Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup full-fat cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips, (choose your preference: dark, milk, or white)
  • Optional: chopped nuts, walnuts, pecans, dried fruits (cranberries, cherries)

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • In a mixing bowl, cream together softened butter and full-fat cream cheese until smooth. Add both sugars and beat until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
  • In another bowl, combine flour, baking soda, cornstarch, and salt. Gradually add to the wet mixture and stir until just combined.
  • Fold in chocolate chips and optional add-ins (nuts, dried fruits).
  • Chill dough for at least 2 hours to enhance flavor and texture.
  • Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough onto baking sheets, leaving space between cookies.
  • Bake for 9-11 minutes until the edges are set but the centers are soft. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.

  • Use room temperature butter, cream cheese, and eggs for smooth mixing.
  • Chilling the dough is essential for the best texture and flavor.
  • Store the cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days or freeze them for up to 3 months.
  • For a special touch, drizzle with melted chocolate or cream cheese frosting before serving.
