Ingredients
  

  • 16 large cabbage leaves (softened by blanching or freezing)
  • 1 ½ pounds of ground beef
  • 2 cups cooked brown rice
  • 1.5 heads of coarsely chopped cabbage
  • Canned tomato sauce
  • Spices (such as salt, pepper, and others)
  • Optional: Sautéed garlic and onions, fresh herbs like parsley or dill, shredded cheese

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 375°F.
  • Blanch or freeze the cabbage leaves to soften them.
  • Brown ground beef in a large skillet and cook until fully browned.
  • Cook the rice and mix it with the beef.
  • Layer the casserole: start with cooked cabbage, then the beef and rice mixture, followed by a layer of tomato sauce and cheese.
  • Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes to melt the cheese and brown the top.
  • Serve with a side dish like mashed potatoes or green salad.

Notes

  • You can customize the filling with ground turkey, pork, or a vegetarian version using mushrooms, lentils, or cheese.
  • To reheat, use a microwave or oven at 350°F, ensuring it reaches 165°F internally.
