Instructions
Preheat oven to 375°F.
Blanch or freeze the cabbage leaves to soften them.
Brown ground beef in a large skillet and cook until fully browned.
Cook the rice and mix it with the beef.
Layer the casserole: start with cooked cabbage, then the beef and rice mixture, followed by a layer of tomato sauce and cheese.
Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes to melt the cheese and brown the top.
Serve with a side dish like mashed potatoes or green salad.
Notes
You can customize the filling with ground turkey, pork, or a vegetarian version using mushrooms, lentils, or cheese.
To reheat, use a microwave or oven at 350°F, ensuring it reaches 165°F internally.
